
Write253 is excited to host two summer camps for teens this summer at our new space!
POETRY CAMP
July 8-11, 11a-4p
Write poetry with other local teens under the guidance of published writers! We will look at work by other poets and talk about how our work fits into the eternal continuum of poetic expression. We'll also talk about what moves us to write in a fun, safe environment.
Deadline to apply is June 30, and you will be notified of acceptance on July 1.
There are 10 open slots for the camp this year, so be sure to register early and let us know why you want to attend!

PRINTMAKING CAMP
July 22-25, 11a-4p
Learn basic printmaking techniques with the incredible artist, printer, and professor Taylor Cox of Coxswain Press. Taylor will show you the basics of printmaking and you will learn how to use all the presses!
Deadline to apply is July 14, and you will be notified of acceptance on July 15.

Info for BOTH CAMPS:
- LOCATION: Write253, 1102 Tacoma Ave. S., Suite 208
- Camps are open to poets and artists of any skill level ages 15-19.
- Camps are free and lunch will be provided.
- We are doing our best to ensure geographic, racial, and gender diversity and equity among our campers. Poets from historically underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
- Can I apply for both camps? Yes! You definitely can!

What will we do at camps?
- You will work with professional artists who will teach you new skills and encourage your craft.
- We will explore the library and downtown as the classroom
- We will write together and print together in a supportive, artistic community.
- We will read look at works by artists and talk about how their work can help shape ours.
FAQs
- How much do camps cost?
Nothing. Camps are free to all participants, thanks to funding from Tacoma Creates!
- Do I need to attend every day?
Yes. When possible, it is important for you to be in attendance each day. Camp runs from T-Fr each week.
- I am new to poetry writing and/ or printmaking. Are these camps a good fit for me?
Yes! We encourage writers and artists of all levels to join us.
- When I fill out the application, does that mean I am admitted? What are the application deadlines?
Not necessarily. We might get more applications than we have space for. Deadline to apply for writing camp is July 1 and the deadline to apply for printmaking camp is July 14, 2025. Please give special consideration to your application question about why you want to attend camp.
